9월 1일 。。。1。 or 公民 or 包包 or 食物 or 保样品 9。
那寂寞的思念,那暗淡的惆怅,还有那幸 福的幻觉,独自呓语!!! 3월 13일 cancerAFTER YEARS OF TELLING PEOPLE CHEMOTHERAPY IS THE ONLY WAY TO TRY(TRY THE KEY WORD) AND ELIMINATE CANCER, JOHN HOPKINS IS FINALLY STARTING TO TELL YOU THERE IS AN ALTERNATIVE WAY. 1. Every person has cancer cells in the body. These cancer cells do not show up in the standard tests until they have multiplied to a few billion. When doctors tell cancer patients that there are no more cancer cells in their bodies after treatment, it just means the tests are unable to detect the cancer cells because they have not reached the detectable size. 2. Cancer cells occur between 6 to more than 10 times in a person's lifetime. 3. When the person's immune system is strong the cancer cells will be destroyed and prevented from multiplying and forming tumors. 4. When a person has cancer it indicates the person has multiple nutritional deficiencies. These could be due to genetic, environmental, food and lifestyle factors. 5. To overcome the multiple nutritional deficiencies, changing diet and including supplements will strengthen the immune system. 6. Chemotherapy involves poisoning the rapidly growing cancer cells and also destroys rapidly-growing healthy cells in the bone marrow, gastro-intestinal tract etc, and can cause organ damage, like liver, kidneys, heart, lungs etc. 7. Radiation while destroying cancer cells also burns, scars and damages healthy cells, tissues and organs. 8. Initial treatment with chemotherapy and radiation will often reduce tumor size. However prolonged use of chemotherapy and radiation do not result in more tumor destruction. 9. When the body has too much toxic burden from chemotherapy and radiation the immune system is either compromised or destroyed, hence the person can succumb to various kinds of infections and complications. 10. Chemotherapy and radiation can cause cancer cells to mutate and become resistant and difficult to destroy. Surgery can also cause cancer cells to spread to other sites. 11. An effective way to battle cancer is to starve the cancer cells by not feeding it with the foods it needs to multiply. CANCER CELLS FEED ON: a. Sugar, is a cancer-feeder. By cutting off sugar it cuts off one important food supply to the cancer cells. Sugar substitutes like Nutrasweet, Equal, Spoonful, etc are made with Aspartame and it is harmful. A better natural substitute would be Manuka honey or molasses but only in very small amounts. Table salt has a chemical added to make it white in colour. Better alternative is Bragg's aminos or sea salt. ( THE WEST MADE US 2 CHANGE FROM SEA 2 WHITE IODISED SALT ) b. Milk causes the body to produce mucus, especially in the gastro-intestinal tract. Cancer feeds on mucus . By cutting off milk and substituting with unsweetened soya milk cancer cells are being starved. c. Cancer cells thrive in an acid environment. A meat-based diet is acidic and it is best to eat fish, and a little chicken rather than beef or pork. Meat also contains livestock antibiotics, growth hormones and parasites, which are all harmful, especially to people with cancer. d. A diet made of 80% fresh vegetables and juice, whole grains, seeds, nuts and a little fruits help put the body into an alkaline environment. About 20% can be from cooked food including beans. Fresh vegetable juices provide live enzymes that are easily absorbed and reach down to cellular levels within 15 minutes to nourish and enhance growth of healthy cells. To obtain live enzymes for building healthy cells try and drink fresh vegetable juice (most vegetables including bean sprouts) and eat some raw vegetables 2 or 3 times a day. Enzymes are destroyed at temperatures of 104 degrees F (40 degrees C). e. Avoid coffee, tea, and chocolate, which have high caffeine. Green tea is a better alternative and has cancer-fighting properties. Water- best to drink purified water, or filtered, to avoid known toxins and heavy metals in tap water. Distilled water is acidic, avoid it. 12. Meat protein is difficult to digest and requires a lot of digestive enzymes. Undigested meat remaining in the intestines become putrified and leads to more toxic buildup. 13. Cancer cell walls have a tough protein covering. By refraining from or eating less meat it frees more enzymes to attack the protein walls of cancer cells and allows the body's killer cells to destroy the cancer cells. 14. Some supplements build up the immune system (IP6, Flor ssence,Essiac, anti-oxidants, vitamins, minerals, EFAs etc.) to enable the body's own killer cells to destroy cancer cells. Other supplements like vitamin E are known to cause apoptosis, or programmed cell death, the body's normal method of disposing of damaged, unwanted, or unneeded cells. 15. Cancer is a disease of the mind, body, and spirit. A proactive and positive spirit will help the cancer warrior be a survivor. Anger, un forgiveness and bitterness put the body into a stressful and acidic environment. Learn to have a loving and forgiving spirit. Learn to relax and enjoy life. 16. Cancer cells cannot thrive in an oxygenated environment. Exercising daily, and deep breathing help to get more oxygen down to the cellular level. Oxygen therapy is another means employed to destroy cancer cells. PLEASE READ ON 1. No plastic containers in micro. 2. No water bottles in freezer. 3. No plastic wrap in microwave. Johns Hopkinshas recently sent this out in its newsletters. This information is being circulated at WalterReedArmyMedicalCenteras well. Dioxin chemicals causes cancer, especially breast cancer. Dioxins are highly poisonous to the cells of our bodies. Don't freeze your plastic bottles with water in them as this releases dioxins from the plastic. Recently, Dr. Edward Fujimoto, Wellness Program Manager at CastleHospitalwas on a TV program to explain this health hazard. He talked about dioxins and how bad they are for us. He said that we should not be heating our food in the microwave using plastic containers. This especially applies to foods that contain fat. He said that the combination of fat, high heat, and plastics releases dioxin into the food and ultimately into the cells of the body. Instead, he recommends using glass, such as CorningWare, Pyrex or ceramic containers for heating food. You get the same results, only without the dioxin. So such things as TV dinners, instant ramen and soups, etc., should be removed from the container and heated in something else. Paper isn't bad but you don't know what is in the paper. It's just safer to use tempered glass, CorningWare, etc. He reminded us that a while ago some of the fast food restaurants moved away from the foam containers to paper. The dioxin problem is one of the reasons. Also, he pointed out that plastic wrap, such as Saran, is just as dangerous when placed over foods to be cooked in the microwave. As the food is nuked, the high heat causes poisonous toxins to actually melt out of the plastic wrap and drip into the food. Cover food with a paper towel instead. 3월 7일 SN CCWe'll do it all

do you still remember that we had 'dentist' rooms where we had to have our teeth check? not to forget our 'program minum susu' in primary school.. everybody is suppose to buy like cartons of milk that costed 30 cents.. and you would see everyone drinking it everyday...its d UHT milk... the teachers who would want to punish us must use yellow rulers to hit us on our palms?? 1 metre length.. that a bowl of mihun soup or Laksa only costed 50 cents at the school canteen... went to some sundry shop near the school or to the 'roti' man waiting outside our schools so that we can buy junk food like chickedees, mamee, ding dang with some toys in it, 'Ti Kam', ice-cream and we would play games like monopoly, uno,old maid, TOP TRUMPS (Car card games), and all other similar card games.. but of course. the best would be bottlecaps, ice-cream sticks, 'Pepsi Cola, one-two-three', Cops and Robbers, chasing,getah... and for the not so active, those kind of 'book games' where we would use buku latihan to draw and ask our friends to play... do you remember the ice-cream tubes which are actually ice and colouring that are sold for 10 to 20 cents.. where you usually bite off the top to glup it down. orange tastes b best..(pop-ice) what about days when we felt like doing naughty things such as folding papers so small to make 'lastik' amd shoot each other... how about throwing chalks?? back then, micheal jackson was just turning white.. His albums were TOP SELLING , Known as "KING OF POP"; Back then, we were listening to tapes that sold for RM9.90 instead of CDs. VHS Tape was in a rage. Pirated Movies/Shows came in VHS Tape format instead of VCD. Also, Kylie Minogue was just 19 then (1989), Bon Jovi (and their band members) just in their mid-20s. Leslie Cheung and Alan Tam battle it out for "Heavenly King"; title. No. 1 hit Album in 1991 is "Vanilla Ice" (Ice Ice Baby). In Sports, Liverpool conquered the 80s until early 90s. Top badminton players were Yang Yang, Morten Frost, Foo Kok Keong, Liem Swie King, Tian Bing Yi/Li Yong Bo, Razif & Jalani Sidek. SELANGOR FC and Singapore FC battled it out in the TOP Division. Remember, in computer class, we were still using black and white monitors, PC OS either Atari, MAC, or Commodore. played games... like Digger, Super Mario; Also, remember the ;Nitendo Game And Watch. Oh! How about cars? Back in Early 90s, One of the MUST HAVE car was FORD TX3 1.8 16v DOHC EFI RM56,000 only. 0-100km/h in 8.9 secs ; VERY QUICK back in early 90s). Other MUST HAVE cars were Honda Civic Bullet, Mazda Astina, BMW 3 series, Ferrari 348GTB and Nissan Skyline GTR R32. Oh! What about Handphones? Back then it's called <TAI KO TAI>; and it resembles a brick, can be used to hit people. Oh! It costs a whooping RM6,000 to own one (as at 1991). Therefore only the RICH can really afford one. Well, are we all getting older or what? We are if: 1) if you understand what you have read and you are smiling... 2) we have friends from school that are already married and have kids... 3) we shake our heads everytime we see high school students fussing about their handphones in school. last but not least, that when you read this, you would think of all the happy & sad memories that you have experienced when you were still a kid and would think of forwarding this to your old friends that you have known since forever... i'm sure they would have a huge smile on their face after reading this! god... i'm old 1월 18일 "never been to hellll.....................

"On numerous occasions UMNO leaders, including Dr Mahathir and many others, have publicly warned Malaysian Malays that if they ever lose power, they risk the same fate as Malays in Singapore, whom they allege are marginalised and discriminated against (see Annex*)... Singapore understands the reality of Malaysian politics. We have never protested at these attacks on our multiracial system or our policies, except to clarify our own position when necessary." - Lee Kuan Yew ?The Straits Times, Singapore (Used by permission) THANK you for your letter of Sept 25, 2006. I made the remarks in a free-flowing dialogue session with former US secretary of treasury Larry Summers before many foreign delegates attending the IMF/WB meeting. To put what Reuters reported into context, I set out the transcript of the relevant passage: 'Let me sum it up nicely, why you must have a government in Singapore which is really firm, stout-hearted, subtle and resolute. My neighbours both have problems with their Chinese. They are successful, they are hardworking and, therefore, they are systematically marginalised, even in education. There are quotas to prevent you. So, you've got to make money to go abroad or go to one of the private universities which are being set up. And they want Singapore, to put it simply, to be like their Chinese, compliant. So, every time, we say 'No' to some scheme to knock down the Causeway and build a bridge, he says, 'Oh, you're not cooperative, you're only thinking of yourself.' For no rhyme or reason, we knock down a causeway, nearly 100 years old, which served us well. He wants to build a bridge because it looks pretty and he says ships will sail and his containers can move from the East Coast to the West Coast via this. But we saw no... So, we said, 'All right, if you give us commensurate benefits, we'll agree'. But you need a government who'll be able to, not only have the gumption, but the skill to say 'No' in a very quiet, polite way that doesn't provoke them into doing something silly.' On the bridge and the half bridge to remove the Causeway, you made the position of your government clear; that Malaysia respects legally binding agreements and acts in accordance with international law. This made unnecessary a reference to ITLOS and the International Court of Justice that would otherwise have been unavoidable. This respect for the law is the basis for sound long-term relations between us. I was explaining to a liberal audience of Westerners who wanted to see a stronger opposition in Singapore, why Singapore needs a strong majority government, not a weak coalition that will hamper us in defending our national interests. Singapore needs a strong government to maintain good relations with Indonesia and Malaysia, and to interact with Indonesian and Malaysian politicians who consider Singapore to be Chinese, and expect Singapore to be 'sensitive' and comply with their requests. On numerous occasions UMNO leaders, including Dr Mahathir and many others, have publicly warned Malaysian Malays that if they ever lose power, they risk the same fate as Malays in Singapore, whom they allege are marginalised and discriminated against (see Annex*). And from time to time, when Malaysian politicians attack Singapore fiercely over some bilateral issue, some of them tell us privately that we should just accept this as part of Malaysian politics and not react to these attacks. Singapore understands the reality of Malaysian politics. We have never protested at these attacks on our multiracial system or our policies, except to clarify our own position when necessary. But we have to explain to our people the root cause of these difficulties in our bilateral relations. Otherwise, Singaporeans will believe that their own government is doing wrong, either to our own people or to Malaysia. As for the international audience, with so many foreign embassy staff and foreign correspondents reporting on Singapore and Malaysia, plus tens of thousands of expatriate businessmen working in our two countries, these people will come to their own judgment of the true position, regardless of what I say. I have not said anything more than what I have said many times before. In fact, I have said less than what I had written in my memoirs published in 1998. I had no intention to meddle in your politics. Indeed I do not have the power to influence Malaysia's politics or to incite the feelings of the Chinese in Malaysia. Since you took over as Prime Minister in November 2003, relations between our two countries have much improved. Singaporeans, and I believe, Malaysians too, appreciate this. I am sorry that what I said has caused you a great deal of discomfort. After a decade of troubled relations with your predecessor, it is the last thing I wanted. Yours sincerely, Lee Kuan Yew PS: The fact that you have written to me is now well publicised. As I have been asked about my reply, I will have to release my letter to the media after you have received it. * The Annex lists numerous media reports on Malaysian leaders talking about the alleged marginalisation of Singapore Malays. --------------------------------- MINISTER Mentor Lee Kuan Yew has been strongly criticised in Malaysia for his recent comments on Chinese in the country. In a letter yesterday to Malaysian Prime Minister Abdullah Badawi, MM Lee explained the context of his remarks and said sorry for the discomfort he caused Datuk Seri Abdullah. The Minister Mentor also noted that on numerous occasions many Umno leaders, including former prime minister Mahathir Mohamad, had alleged that Malays in Singapore were marginalised and discriminated against. His letter contained an annex listing several occasions when such remarks were made: No: 1. Date: 3 Sep 06 Who: Umno Youth Deputy Chief Khairy Jamaluddin Where: China Press What: Khairy was reported to have said that the Malays in Penang faced the same fate of being marginalised as those in Singapore and that many of them were forced to move elsewhere. --------------------------------- No: 2. Date: 28 Aug 06 Who: Deputy Health Minister Abdul Latiff Ahmad Where: The Star What: This article reported that at the Bukit Mertajam Umno delegates' conference, the Bukit Mertajam Umno division called on Penang Chief Minister Koh Tsu Koon to give up the Penang Water Supply Corporation Sdn Bhd Chairman's post to Umno. The division chief alleged that Dr Koh had 'snatched' the chairman's post away from Umno. Deputy Health Minister Abdul Latiff, who opened the conference, said that he sympathised with Penang Malays because 'I understand they do not want to end up becoming like the Malays in Singapore'. --------------------------------- No: 3. Date: 29 May 05 Who: Former PM Mahathir Mohd Where: Mingguan Malaysia What: After a visit to Palestine, Mahathir was asked what advice he had for the younger generation so that they would understand the Palestinian crisis. Mahathir replied that when he was Education Minister, a Palestinian professor had told him that Malaysians should be grateful for their good fortune. Mahathir added: 'Let us not go far. Look at Singapore. Do we want to be like Muslim Malays in Singapore? Yet we are not grateful and have not taken steps to ensure that our country will not suffer the same plight'. --------------------------------- No: 4. Date: 3 Oct 02 Who: Then PM Mahathir Mohd Where: Bernama What: At a dialogue held in conjunction with the third 'Malay and Islamic World Convention' in Malacca, Mahathir said that Malaysia's Malays might become a minority group like the Malays in Singapore if they continue to quarrel among themselves and do not work hard. On 3 Oct 02 in Bernama, he was quoted as saying that there were groups that claimed that the Singapore Malays were better off than Malaysian Malays, 'but the fact as can be seen now is that Singapore Malays are not given the opportunity to hold high posts in various fields such as the military.' He said that Malays in Malaysia were at one time nearly reduced to the same fate as Singapore Malays, a minority race, but that they were saved by the economic depression in 1930, when many Chinese and Indians returned to their home countries. --------------------------------- No: 5. Date: 26 Aug 02 Who: Then PM Mahathir Mohd Where: Bernama What: At a Puteri UMNO information session, Mahathir warned that if the Malays continued to be disunited and questioned every move the government made, they would be marginalised, not just in Penang but all over the country. He said a worse fate would befall them if they were also lazy to improve their standard of living. He said: 'This will lead to the degradation of their race, not just in Penang but all over the country.' He added that 'The Malays in this country must not forget. At one time we were almost like Singapore and we must remember that in the 30s the migrants formed the majority of the population.' However, Mahathir denied the claim that few economic opportunities had been given to Malays. He said that 'we have given them substantial economic opportunities...but sometimes what we gave them, they gave to other people instead.' --------------------------------- No: 6. Date: 11 Dec 00 Who: Then PM Mahathir Mohd Where: Bernama What: In response to Suqiu (Malaysian Chinese Organisation's Election Appeals Committee) call for equal rights and meritocracy, Mahathir said that meritocracy was used as an excuse for blocking and oppressing native people of their rights by immigrant communities as seen in what he described as an 'immediate neighbouring country and other nations'. He added that '...we've seen how natives of the land become marginalised, impoverished and have no role in the government in the name of so-called equal rights ad meritocracy.' Following Mahathir's remarks, Utusan Malaysia (UM) carried a front-page article entitled 'Singapore Deliberately Weakens The Malays' based on Lily Zubaidah Rahim's 'The Singapore Dilemma: The Political Educational Marginality of the Malay Community', which claimed that the Singapore Government had over the years actively marginalised the Malays in Singapore. This was followed by a spate of comments by Malaysian politicians on the issue, for example: 12 Dec 00: Mohd Ruzi Jamil (President of the Kedah Federation of Peninsular Malay Students) said that Singapore Malays' weakness in education and the economy was caused by political pressure imposed by the Republic's leaders. He stressed that many of the Malay rights have been withdrawn and they are not given equal opportunities to compete with other races in the country. 14 Dec 00: BN Senator Abdul Aziz Abdul Rahman said in Parliament that 'by keeping quiet, PAS wants the Malay community in the country to face the same fate as the Malays in Singapore who have been neglected by the republic's government although the Singapore Constitution demands that the rights of the Malays in that country be protected'. 21 Dec 00: Tan Sri Aziz Tapa (UMNO Veteran and former Malacca State Assembly Speaker) said that 'I think that there is no need for a dialogue because we know the motives of Suqiu are the same as DAP: to turn Malaysia into something like Singapore.' --------------------------------- No: 6a. Date: Dec 00 to Jan 01 Who: Various Where: Various What: During the Suqiu controversy, following Mahathir's comments as listed immediately above, there was also a media campaign in the Malaysian papers attacking Singapore for marginalising the Malays. Reports that were published included those listed below: * 13 Dec 00 - UM - 'Singapore Marginalises the Malay Community' * 13 Dec 00 - UM - 'Singapore Malays' Weakness is due to Political Pressure' * 16 Dec 00 - UM - 'Suqiu making Malays Here Have the Same Plight as Malays in Singapore' * 19 Dec 00 - New Straits Times - 'Meritocracy comes under Attack' * 21 Dec 00 - UM - 'Living in Isolation in own Country' * 26 Dec 00 - UM - 'Penang Malays follow Singapore's footsteps' * 5 Jan 01 - UM - 'Suqiu: Learn form [sic] Singapore's Problem' --------------------------------- No: 7. Date: 23 Aug 98 Who: Then Special Advisor to UMNO Jelebu Division (Note: He is now Minister of Culture, Arts and Heritage) Where: UM What: He accused Singapore of 'denying the right of Malays to hold senior positions in the SAF.' He also said that 'the issue of Malays being neglected in such a way actually is not a diplomatic issue but is an ethnic issue which insults everyone who calls themselves a Malay. Now we can ask, what has become of the meritocracy policy which is shouted by Singapore all this while?' seriously, when is all this gonna end? or.. is there an end to all this? dont they have anything else better to do?

State Local Government Committee chairman Takiyuddin Hassan said there has never been a ban on such outlets. “It’s just that there were no takers,” he said yesterday in response to Mentri Besar Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat’s statement that licences would be given for cinemas or cineplexes if they adhere to guidelines. On snooker and billiard parlours, he said these outlets should be able to start in March. Operators must comply with 15 conditions set by the state government, among them: no gambling; men and women cannot play at the same table; business hours from 10am to 11pm; patrons aged 17 and below can only play till 6pm; single females can only play till 9pm; and the outlets must be brightly lit. As billiards will be defined as entertainment, licence applicants need to register with the Sports Commissioner and the National Snooker and Billiards Association. “In Islam, there are things haram due to other elements. Snooker is halal but becomes haram when there is gambling,” said Nik Aziz after the state executive council meeting. Snooker was banned in 1993 after PAS took over the Kelantan government following the 1990 general election.

By Peter Goff in Beijing (Filed: 18/12/2005) A plan by China to honour "the good Nazi", a German who helped to save hundreds of thousands of civilians from Japanese troops, has reopened a dispute with Tokyo over its lack of atonement for the Second World War. The Chinese authorities are drawing up plans for a museum dedicated to the memory of John Rabe, who defied the "Rape of Nanking" - a six-week massacre during which an estimated 300,000 Chinese were slaughtered by Japanese soldiers. Honouring Mr Rabe gives China the chance to draw international attention to Japan's wartime atrocities at a point when relations between the two Asian giants are fraught. A card-carrying Nazi, Rabe was a China-based Siemens employee in 1937 when the Japanese stormed Nanking, or Nanjing as it is now known. His superiors ordered him to return home, but instead he sent his family back and established a "safety zone" in the city where he offered shelter to terrified Chinese. Using his Nazi credentials, he and a small group of other foreigners kept the Japanese at bay, at considerable risk to themselves, and saved an estimated 250,000 lives. Rabe wrote a 1,200-page diary that documented the killings and rapes in the city, information that was later used as evidence of war crimes. The Japanese soldiers "went about raping the women and girls and killing everything and everyone that offered any resistance, attempted to run away from them, or simply happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time," he wrote. "There were girls under the age of eight and women over the age of 70 who were raped and then, in the most brutal way possible, knocked down and beaten up. We found corpses of women on beer glasses and others who had been lanced by bamboo shoots." Chinese historians estimate that 80,000 girls and women were raped at the time. "One was powerless against these monsters who were armed to the teeth and who shot down anyone who tried to defend themselves," Rabe wrote. "They only had respect for us foreigners - but nearly every one of us was close to being killed dozens of times. We asked ourselves mutually, 'How much longer can we maintain this bluff?' " Beijing believes that Japan has never properly atoned for its atrocities. Chinese anger is further fuelled by repeated visits by the Japanese prime minister, Junichiro Koizumi, to the Yasukuni shrine, which honours Japan's war dead including some "Class A" war criminals held responsible for the massacre in Nanjing. Last week, China's premier, Wen Jiabao, cancelled a summit with Mr Koizumi because "Japan won't own up correctly to its history". The shrine visits "seriously hurt the feelings of the Chinese people", he said. When the pair did finally meet at a signing ceremony of a regional meeting on Wednesday, Mr Wen snubbed the Japanese leader by ignoring his request to borrow his pen. Several awkward seconds elapsed in front of television cameras before the request was loudly repeated and the Chinese premier pasted on a smile and handed over the implement. There were mass protests in March outside the Japanese embassy and consulates in China after Japan published a history textbook that glossed over the wartime atrocities. Tensions between the neighbours are exacerbated by other thorny issues, including a territorial dispute over resource-rich islands in the East China Sea and Japan's desire to become a permanent member of the United Nations Security Council. China also fears what it sees as a growing nationalistic militarism in Japan. "Part of the reason to honour John Rabe now is a response to Japan's bad attitude," Jiang Liangqin, a historian at Nanjing University, said. "For example, they honour the war criminals and have never properly said sorry. Some Japanese even deny the massacre took place. We know that Japanese often look down on Chinese and don't believe what we say. Well here is a European who told exactly what happened. We want to bring the world's attention to that." While the killings were going on, Rabe wrote to Hitler several times begging him to intervene but never got a response. He said later that being based in China meant he was unaware of his leader's heinous plans in Europe. After the massacre Rabe lectured in wartime Germany about what he had seen and submitted footage of the atrocities to Hitler, but the Fuhrer did not want to hear about Japan's actions. Rabe was detained by the Gestapo for a short period, denounced by the Nazis and barred from giving lectures. In post-war Germany he was again denounced - this time be being a Nazi Party member - and was arrested first by the Russian and then by the British, but was ultimately exonerated following an investigation. He and his family lived in abject poverty, surviving on occasional care packages posted to him by the grateful people of Nanjing. He died of a stroke in 1950 at the age of 68. "The people of China will never forget the good German John Rabe, and the other foreigners who helped him," said Ma Guoliang, an 89-year-old woman whose parents were killed by the Japanese. "He saved so many people and yet at any time he could easily have been killed himself. He could have left, but he stayed with us. We called him the living Buddha of Nanking." ** japan... the conflict which lives in most of us(msian and chinese) these days...we grew to love them, their songs, their trends, their drama, their technologies... yet, we cant really forget what they did to our ancestors, how much pain they had brought last time... still, japanese fashion rocks~ as zoo kong said.. he dont wanna know japanese.. cause he is afraid that he will like them.. cause he wants to hate them... haha..but some jap are cute though..** 1월 10일 new undang?Do take note, esp. this coming CNY festive season. China has told him to sort out the mess in his department in two weeks and come afterwards. The government was caught flatfooted when the MMS video-clip of a naked Chinese woman doing the ear squat was published. The police predictably have gone after the person who took the video-clip. The newspapers are full of articles which suggest that the police did the right thing. But the problem of police brutality is not new. The Tenaganita chief, Irene Fernandez, has in her files Indians, Bangladeshis, Nepalis and others who have been brutalised by the police. The DAP MP, Ms Teresa Kok, has been investigated for having the video-clip. The police wanted to find out how she came to it. The police is not interested whether the video-clip is true until the prime minister, Dato' Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, instructed them to find out the truth of the video-clip. It has become important because fewer Chinese tourists affect Malaysia's bottom line. Genting Highlands casino lost millions of ringgit as a result of Chinese tourist high rollers staying away for two days early this year. Chinese tourists would not come to Malaysia all of a sudden. There has been two-thirds less tourists for the first nine months this year compared to the last. But the Malaysian government is not serious in resolving the issue. Not yet. There is yet a statement to say it is. It is bothered that it has been caught out. The former deputy prime, Dato' Seri Anwar Ibrahim, was beaten to a pulp - by the Inspector-General of Police, no less - but the police denied it until a commission of inquiry brought out the truth. If a man so high could be brutalised by the police, and no one knew about it until public pressure brought the truth, then what about the many cases involving Malaysians, and those without clout. Police brutality is common throughout the world. Malaysia is no exception. Movies from India, regularly shown on Astro and the cinemas, regularly show police brutality and the police in India does not say it is wrongly characterised. The California policeman involved in the assault of Rodney King did not admit until public pressure forced them to. Police brutality in the Middle East is so common that even the United States sends its prisoners for 'softening up'. What is the difference between a woman in Abu Ghraib prison telling Iraqis to strip and perform sexual acts on each other and the naked woman doing ear squats in Petaling Jaya headquarters? The government and the police have repeated the mantra that they are not involved, but behave differently so that the public, and the world, is convinced that the naked woman doing the ear squat is part of police brutality. The police aim is to remove any sense of dignity of the person they have power over. One man said they did that to him while he was detained under the Internal Security Act. A policeman used to piss on the food that was brought to him, so that he went hungry. Another was periodically served food that he could not eat. A third was beaten after he had eaten. Another was not given a mat to sleep and had to sleep on the cement floor with four air conditioners on full blast, and mosquitoes galore. I had sent a book by a Guardian Reporter who had been detained by the police, and wrote about it, to a party leader who had been arrested because he was standing in the way of the Barisan chief forming a government. He would not write about his experiences because it would show that he had been forced to strip his dignity. He did not want that. So he kept quiet. That is how many people arrested by the police want to leave their stay in the police cell behind them. They want to get on with their lives. The deputy minister for internal security, Dato' Noh Omar, is dismissive of people coming out with their experiences in police custody five years ago. But he is wrong. A Reformasi woman detained by the police was asked to strip and do ear squats five years ago. The trauma of getting one's dignity stripped can take years to overcome. She has come public now. But what about the Chinese tourists, now back in China, telling their experiences now, and which newspapers in China are printing. They should have made their statements before they left? But they have. They have persuaded others not to come to Malaysia. That it has taken the proportion it has suggests that many Chinese tourists have been badly treated over the years, if not by immigration then by the police. It is a problem that would not go away. And the government and the police make sure it does not. Going about as if they do not care is not how to resolve the problem. The newspapers, all owned by National Front members, has become party newspapers. How they cover the Pengkalan Pasir by-election shows it. Dato' Seri Anwar was listened to rapturously by a crowd of 10,000. But there is hardly any report of that in the mainstream media. It is the internet that carries such news. It is the internet that splashed the story of the nude China woman. The print media did not report it until their reporters could get someone in authority who could rebut it. But that is what party organs do. That is what the mainstream newspapers do. This present crisis will not go away, not so long as the Chinese tourists do not return. But Malaysia should worry about this. There is no rapport between Thai Prime Minister and his Malaysian counterpart, because each took positions on the Thai Muslims and made statements each wished each had not. So, a modus vivendi was reached by getting Tun Mahathir Mohamed, the former prime minister, to meet Mr Thakson Shinawatra. Today, there is calm in the Thai South, but that to do with a Thai editor locking horns with him. But both Malaysia and Thailand are afraid that the Thai Muslims in the south would want independent of either. But Malaysia is used to this: it lost the other oil producing Malay state, Brunei, from joining Malaysia by its own mistakes. Pak Lah should have discussed the issue with the Chinese prime minister, Mr Hu Jintao, when they met at the APEC summit in Busan. He cannot say he was not informed. He is the Interior Security Minister as well as Finance Minister. The staff in those ministries should have informed him. It is no use demanding that the problem be resolved. It cannot be resolved. For long, Malaysia has regarded foreign Caucasian tourists as special and those from Asia and African as beneath contempt. So far, the other countries would not take action for extenuating circumstances: their citizens can go to hell but they must maintain their good relations with Malaysia. But China had taken a policy decision last year not to send its tourists to Malaysia, taken after many Chinese tourists had complained of their treatment in Malaysia. Malaysia now knows why, but it is not resolving the problem. It is still interested in finding out who took the MMS video-clip than if it was true. Reversing that will not necessarily solve the problem, as the government knows. But Dato' Seri Azmi Khalid can only go to China after the present problem is solved! |
